10/31/11 HALLOWEEN IN HOLLYWOOD,
...this is the big Halloween block party ..they say its one of the biggest, if not the biggest...here in w. hollywood, I came down here last year & gave away bible CD's..the MC on this particulare stage is very gay (not the person in the black costume)...he's not only gay but anti-Hetero... u have heard of gay bashing, well, he's a straight basher ..I can only stay in the environment for so long before I need to get away...I'm NOT A big halloween person...this time of year I think of all souls day, all saints day, reformation day, etc. .

the notre dame football coach came to los angeles for the get motivatedseminar at staples center. he was one of many bih name speakers, incl joe montana, rudy guilani, bill cosby, stanley mcchrystal, laura bush, et. al ...lou spoke about attitude..mentioned notre dame footbal. throughout the speech, even did a magic trick at the end (tore up a newspaper & made it whole again, how'd he do that ?), ..he made afew jokes (one time he was in a restaurant & the waiter said "What's the difference between cheerios & notre dame ? lou said, IDK, WHAT? and the waiter replied, "cheerios deserve to be in a bowl, notre dame doesn't" ha ha..Lou was upset but his wife calmed him down (importance of attitude) and a few moments later calledthe waiter back over & said "What's the difference between Lou Holtz & a golf teacher?" Idk, what? "the golf teacher gives tips, Lou Holtz doesn't" ha ha, not to that waiter anyways, lou also mentioned his arkansas years and getting unfairly fired, he thought..and when it happened he wanted to blast the decision-maker in the media, but again his wife encouraged him not to do so,,..and so he refrained..and LO & BEHOLD, 2 years later when Notre Dame was looking for a coach they decided to call the Arkansas administrator who fired him...aand the admin said that Lou is a great guy and that he had been given bad advice and regretted firing him. Moral of the story; Don't badmouth your boss even if he unfairly fires you. ..it was fun to hear from Lou ..he has such a unique vocal style.., God bless him.

10/30/11 SO THE CRYSTAL CATHEDRAL HAS CHOSEN A "BUYER" .
...they've chosen Chapman University, which is just down the road in the city of Orange ..I was HOPING they would go with the Catholic Diocese so that IN CASE they cannot come up with the money needed to BUY BACK the church, the church will nonetheless still remain a church, even if not protestant, ..albeit I'm not sure what the terms of the Catholic offer included, whether buying back the Cathedral itself was part of the terms or not..I got more of a feeling that the Catholic Diocese was intent on relocating the Crystal Cathedral ministries (CCM) to another venue (at which point I suppose it would cease to be called Crystal Cathedral) ..if that's the case then I suppose Chapman is the better offer, but. if the Cathedral does not come up with the money needed to buy back the church, then the crystal cathedral simple becomes a "historical landmark" ?...is chapman going to use it for graduation ceremonies ? maybe use it for conferences? guest speakers, etc? for that matter, crystal cathedral could or should start doing that sort of thing already? there's SO MANY alternative ways to use the cathedral IN ADDITION TO Sunday worship. 6 days per week it goes unused except for tours & occassional special church days? the catholic church has mass every day and so for that sake alone it would be used every day as a house of worship. ....there's also the huge arboretum, big enough for a church alone (it was the original church before the crystal cathedral)..there is SO MUCH SPACE going unused at the moment..if the cathedral were smart they'd start leasing out space to other similar ministries & charities & non-profit organizations,..and the list goes on..the cathedral itself could do what the real estate company wanted to do with it...commercialize parts of it..albeit the cathedral could keep it more "sacred" to a certain extent, opening it only to those organizations that are, in general, in unity with the theme & mission statement of the Crystal Cathedral & Christian principles in general ..there's LOTS OF POSSIBILITIES...seems that Mr POSSIBILITY THINKER (Senior Schuller) either isn't practicing what he preaches or isn't being consulted or allowed to give input, or there are limitations/obstacles that I am not aware of, ...in any case, it appears the sale is imminent within weeks & will go thru, but the church will continue pretty much as-is, according to the current status quo..for the next 5 years...at which point they have the funds to buy back most of the buildings, or that's it (albeit I reckon there will be some sort of agreement for the Hour of Power to continue taping every Sunday with a small audience..in fact, that's the atmosphere already..almost like the congregants are a TV audience & there's a "cryer" (whoever's in thepulpit) of sorts trying to get applause and amen from them, along with a plea for an offering...I can see this could go on in perpetuity even if the cathedral is not bought back..essentially the crystal cathedral will become a "stage"...that's basically how its being used now..with two services per Sunday, from which they produce the Hour of Power, which is really, I believe, the real interest & passion of the Schullers..& u have a few loyal parishioners who smile, laugh, say "amen", & pray on cue ..I myself have followed & supported the crystal cathedral since 1984...but also have my own ministry & other churches.b/c I believe ALL CHURCHES, collectively, constitute the Body of Christ. Pastors want loyalty to one congregation for mostly economic reasons..& that's fine if u r content with such, but truth be told...the FULL BODY of CHRIST are all the churches worldwide..& u should feel free to go to more than one church..& in fact I recommend it so that u get a diversity of experiences & a message from more than one or a few preachers..

PAUL COPAN (first, b/c I came in late - didn't hear the intro. The schedule says Paul Copan was to speak on this topic but I've noticed that not all topics have been spoken by the scheduled speaker (or the schedule itself was wrong),..so this may be somebody else, but I will go by the name on the schedule. The title of the topic is "A BIBLICAL, MEDICAL, & MORAL LOOK at HOMOSEXUALITY"; BEGIN: "[when I entered he was talking about shem , ham japeth,...."they are always mentioned in that sequence, ham sees dad naked, noah cursed youngest son..actually cursed canaan ? The word for "know" often used to mean "sexual relations" ..."to know" the visitor..LOT knew they wanted homosexual relations. Jude 7 cites Sodom, ..abomination repulsion, ..says there is no salvation for those who practice a homosexual lifestyle, albeit there is forgiveness for those who had an incident here or there of such, or stop altogether such a lifestyle ..homosexuals try to argue that sodom & gomorrah was destroyed b/c the men were not hospitable or b/c they didn't care for the poor & needy, or that God was condemning "homosexual rape" not just being homosexual..Copan doesn't buy it...the scripture is too clear..1 tim 1.8-11..the re-statemment of 10 commandments by paul..copan says adultery covers all sexual immorality.. he mentions natural law..that the parts don't fit...and that law doesn't determinemorality but morality determines law..and his BEST LINE was "WHEN LAW CEASES TO FOLLOW MORALITY, WE NO LONGER HAVE TO FOLLOW IT". ...he goes on to refute other arguments such as "mutual consent"..noting that if two adults mutually consent to rob a bank its still illegal...he refutes right to privacy.."can't kill in private",..quotes Lincoln re slavery "NOBODY HAS THE RIGHT TO DO WRONG"...Less than 1% of population practice homosexuality but we get an impression that it is much more, ..he says there is no genetic tendency for homosexuality, it is a chosen lifestyle...questions why they should be a protected class and not others.."why shouldn't homophobes be a protected class as well, then?" ...speaking at an "apologetics conference" at calvary chapel, costa mesa ...I came in a few minutes late, so I didn't see the intro, but the topic was "Is God a Moral Monster" which according to the schedule was supposed to be taught by Paul Copan, Or was this Geisler talking about the "Attributes of God" & he just happened to also use the phrase "Is God a Moral Monster?" in hiis speech..I caught a little bit of Geisler last night..which seemed to be his speech re the attributes of God (ie impassable, immutable, etc) ..maybe Copan couldn't make it so Geisler took his place ? anyways I have some notes which I will add here later, one of the best quotes from the speech was that God respects our free will and while we say "Thy Will be Done" to God, he also says to us, at the end, "Thy will be done" meaning it is OUR CHOICE whether we go to heaven or hell, and that "GOD WILL NOT FORCE US TO LOVE HIM. HE IS NOT A DIVINE RAPIST" (excellent point) ..he also mentioned "Mary had a little lamb" being a poem about Mother Mary & baby Jesus..call me dumb but I NEVER REALIZED this was a spiritual poem...we said it ingrade school (public school) but never in our Christian grade school (I attended both)....anyways the gist of the message was answering charges by critics that Jesus was cruel or God unkind as suggested by a few remote passages where God killed people or Jesus denounced evil, etc...geisler addresses each charge point-by-point, one-by-one, and says Christianity is NOT in any way comparable to Muslim Jihad

10/28/11 FLY OUT, CARDINALS WIN the 2011 WORLD SERIES v RANGERS
...what a series ! incredible ! especially game 6, plus the 3-homer game by Pujols,...poor Rangers,..I thought Texas deserved it,,,still waiting for their first championship, ..cardinals have had plenty, but for the little town of Joplin's sake, I rejoice for St. Louis ..to cheer up the tornado victims ...congratulations Cardinals !

10/27/11 JOEL ROSENBERG DISCUSSES ISLAM & IRAN, & CHRISTIAN ISSUES @ GREG LAURIE's OC HARVEST CHURCH ....I think I saw him one before at a crusade/revival in coachella (not a harvest crusade) ..he was born into an orthodox Jewish family, but became a Christian..he's written several books including some fiction stories that seem to have some parallels, maybe even prophetic, to real life tragic events involving terror ...(I hope he's not putting ideas into the enemies mind which leads to it coming true) earlier this evening he was on the frank pastore radio show...he discusses the threat of iran to the world, including, or especially, America & Israel (I've been hearing a lot of talk recently about the importance of Israel having their own land & the importance of America "blessing" Israel..even one fellow on the radio said today that he believes our economy may be influenced positively or negatively by our posture towards America, & that because Obama has not been very favorable towards Israel, our economy has worsened..albeit I always thought the "new Israel" would be all Christian believers & didn't necessarily require actual, physical land for those specifically of Semitic heritage...I wonder if Rosenberg's Jewish upbringing pushes him, theologically, in that direction, even as a Christian ...) and Rosenberg talked about Mog & Magog (which he is convinced is a reference to what is now Russia) and other geographical names in the Bible, one of which he contends is for Iran,..the EXCITING thing about his speech (& there were many points which I can't cover all here& now) is that he believes Iran will be a central force for both good as well as potential evil.....the evil being their radicalism (albeit, he points out that not all Islams have a radical agenda)..especially if they get nuclear weapons, & especially if they align themselves with Iraq (which will be without USA Forces by the end of the year) & possibly Libya, among others,..BUT THE GOOD POTENTIAL is that some of the Sharia Muslims...if they get LED TO CHRIST will become a Great force for evangelical Christianity...and he gives an example of this Muslim who came to southern Cal & eventually came to Christ and is now known as the "Billy Graham of Iran" ..and so the thrust of his message is a reminder to us as evangelical Christians to keep praying for Iran & Muslims worldwide & keep doing (or begin doing) evangelism...& be willing to go to Muslim countries if you are called by God ..he gives an example of a group putting the Jesus film on satellite tv in the farsi language & one day an elderly lady in Iran came across it on satellite tv & watched it & it was the first time she had heard the gospel message..& she actually had a supernatural encounter with Jesus at that moment.... he emphasizes that the church needs to do more, much more, evangelically, & that our future as a country may depend upon it ...and I say AMEN to that ! as for all the interpretation of times & places in the bible..even though I went to seminary & studied greek & hebrew (& a little aramaic & arabic )...interpretation of that nature is too complex for me....I'm more of a "simple evangelical" emphasizing bringing the good news in one way or another to all people & hoping & praying for the best, & then depending on God to do the rest,..but YES, eachof us will be judged according to the fruits we bear...so don't take it too nonchalantly, yet don't become legalistic either, thinking u can get to heaven "by works" ...the fruit will be a natural product, not something contrived...it will, or should, come naturally & gracefully, from those who truly know they are saved sinners..the first step for some, in America, is realizing they are sinners (we all are, but modern society doesn't want us to think so) ...anyways, u can find out more about Joel at his website, www.JoelRosenberg.com
10/27/11 STUNNING WIN BY CARDINALS IN B11 w/ HOMER BY FREESE !
holy cow ! just incredible ending to a wild & crazy game...eleven innings...rangers had a 2 run lead in the 9th, and cardinals tied..then rangers got a 2-run lead in the 10th, & cardinals tied it...then rangers couldn't score in the 11th but cardinals did with a homer by freese, to win it 10-9, ..the game took 4 hours & 30-some minutes..wow..now we go to game 7 ..insane..

after an incredible comeback by the cardinals to tie the game in the bottom of the 9th (w/ 2 outs & 2 strikes), Rangers come right bback with 2 more in the top of the 10th with a 2-run homerun by Hamilton. I'm not a betting man, but I'm thinkingthis has to be the clincher. Cardinals cannot get 2 runs again.

don't let anyone tell u otherwise ; SEE EXCELLENT ARTICLE BY CALLIE JOUBERT REFUTING SO-CALLED "EMERGENTISM" & PERSONS SUCH AS NANCEY MURPHY (FULLER SEM) ...ever since attending Fuller Sem & being unwittingly (albeit intentionally so, for nefarious reasons by a duplicitous academic advisor from korea) placed in a class taught by Nancey Murphy which made NO SENSE WHATSOEVER to me (yet I completed the classwork ...albeit she definitely had pre-profiled me...she had her sights on me from day 1, ...there definitely was gossip & social engineering in the works at fuller sem even amongst the faculty...& I was given an F without justification or explanation...but I refused to go to talk to Ms. Murphy because I sensed from day one that there was something definitely wrong with what she was teaching & the way she was teaching (by the way I came from calvin college & a year at calvin seminary & probably further offended Ms Murphy when I wrote, somewhere, prior to this class, that until I arrived at Fuller I had never heard of a Nancey Murphy (she's not in the "canon" around Calvin, that's for sure; which probably infuriates her all the more).
The more I listened to Nancey Murphy & read stuff by her or about her the more I realized she was teaching a bunch of absolute gibberish (essentially fraudulent, & yet she was shaping, or mis-shaping, a lot of young minds). And I wrote a lot in refutation of what she taught, as best as I could get a handle on something that was meaningless & nonsensical (imagine somebody claiming the world is flat today & having to waste your time trying to refute the nonsense, & actually giving such a person a platform for asserting such gibberish).
And now, ten years later, on September 2, 2011 (at 12:45am pst) I come across an article that does everything I tried to do, albeit so much better. This article by Joubert is awesome. It articulately defends God as Creator & refutes all the gibberish of so-called "physicalism" or "non-reductive physicalism" & "emergentism" etc. of people such as Nancey Murphy (who really shouldn't be teaching at a Protestant seminary if she believes this; not to mention she comes from a Catholic background. Why & how she infiltrated Fuller Seminary & got tenure I do not know). I will keep this on file forever to explain to others my response to the frustration & confusion caused by Nancey Murphy (not to mention the fact that I had to re-take the same class, albeit thankfully with a traditional professor, at my expense).

10/27/11 LONG LINE FOR AFI FILM FEST TICKETS
..thought id walk in & pick up a few free tix for the film fest since I couldn't gey anything online...but a few other people apparently had thes same idea..long line..maybe an hour wait, which isshort bylos angeles standards, but still too long for me
