10/30/11 Crystal Cathedral Guest: Devon Franklin, interviewed by Jim Penner: "Devon franklin..will smith has some nice things to say about u..what led u to become an executive in hollywood/...wanted to play football..got knocked out..decided hollywood would be better..went to usc..got internship, worked way up..I was on set of karate kid..u observe sabbath?..sun going down..do i observe or stay on set? I made decision to go back to hotel before sun went down..(he's Jewish? Or "Messianic Jew"? Ie "Jew for Jesus"?) ..been thru times....worked at will smith's company,...climate changed..promotion not possible..thought career was at end..boss said "we're going to help u find a new job"..know what that means..started my own job search.., nothing happened..went to meeting..deuteronomy....decided to quit..gave 2 week notice..they said "we're not firing u"..fasted mon thru thurs..last day on job...shortly later,,"we'd love to offer u the exec position.." thank u Jesus..its not abt job, its abt relationship, ..better underst. Of what he wants to do in my life, opened door..son I want u in the industry...u had a quote..truth is, u & I r in control of 2 things..what might happen versus what does happen..we can't control what we can't control, giv to god, ..prepare selves but also let god do what he's going to do..we serve god who specializes in making hits..sometimes we get frustrated in developing,..prepare u4 next life..don't overlook devlpmment..it may not be where I want to be..in small thing, key to unlocking bigger thing..this book "produced by faith"..for anybody looking for job or career..in hollywood..things we do "I buy scripts"..will read, identify where scripts need work..notes, god gives us notes, can't put u into production until u address the notes,..I can't put u into production until you're ready to roll, commit & submit...until we give our all to Him there's a limit..."
