...this is the 2nd round...2nd big "houses for mexico" campaign...building mini-homes on the campus of crystal cathedral & transporting them to mexico for homeless Christians...its a nice thing to do...sort of a new push by sheila to do more for the poor, not only in mexico, but also locally ...including "Monday meals"...it definitely gives a different "vibe" to the crystal cathedral, perhaps previously not known so much as a church for the "less fortunate", but I'm still concerned about whether the required $50 million will come in by the end of october, or will the CC be forced to sell ?

8/28/11 THEY JUST ANNOUNCED THE HB LITTLE LEAGUE WORLD SERIES SCORE ..

8/28/11 DANNER TIES THE LITTLE LEAGUE WORLD SERIES w/ a HOMER !
and I'm not even there..I'm sitting up here in the bleachers at the manhattan beach open (a few miles down the road from HB ) ...pro volleyball .....waiting for the finals to begin...&..on the other side of the bleachers I'm watching the paddleboarders straggle in from catalina island..almost 2pm here..the winners came in around 11 am ..that's 32 miles of paddling ..incredible just to finish...Id probably come in around midnight..but I'm reading the live blog at http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/821124-little-league-world-series-2011-final-live-updates-analysis-and-recap# , go ocean view ! were all rooting for u ! u can beat japan !

@ polycarp church ..she's on a mission funding appeal ..unfortunately, they place the "2nd offering" at the very end of the service..some people leave early...also they didn't have the special envelopes..plus there is no personal contact info for sister sophia..which would be nice..I'm more inclined to give to missions if they have personal contact info & are willing to follow up...& give a periodic newsletter about how they are doing..once I was at st. john the baptist catholic in costa mesa & the missionary from russia (who was actually a west michigan native, as am I ) did an appeal...& I added a note to my offering asking him to contact me by email, but I got no response ..why don't or won't some of these missionaries communicate at the individual level one-to-one ? or does the diocese frown upon that ? I personally enjoy mailing correspondence to specific addresses in other countries..& want to know specifics about how things are going, how a person is doing...not just a generalized "we're so poor in africa" appeal ...& sister sophia was good about giving specifics..she added that they are trying to get water to their school..which requires a well & pipes...and the pipe costs either $50 or $15 per a certain amount of feet..couldn't hear precisely..but the point is these are important specifics..biit iin this day * age a specific address or email address would be nice too (if allowed0

That was the day they predicted the end..he said this year..its going to happen..previous predictions wrong..at work we all set our watches 6pm...what if it had happened? Would we have been prepared ? Like wise virgins w/ extra oil ? Or like the foolish virgins ..does it mean be goody 2 shoes 24/7 ..Jesus called pharisees blind dogs hypocrites..but jesus focused on god..being prepared..means we r being called to have a rshp w jesus..model our lives on jesus..emulate for all others..all being called to holiness..that's what st paul is talking abt ...1st lttr to thess..called to be holy..when we focus lives on jesus..bit by bit becoming more holy..don't always notice it ..but it happens..over time..not called to impurity..called to holiness...read the whole thing..insights into what it means to be prepared..if we live a life..of holiness..when jesus knock will we be prepared "
