7/30/11 MAGIC JOHNSON TALKS ABOUT DISCOVERING HE HAD HIV
..in the prime of his career...team doc calls him in utah..tells him he needs to return to L.A....immediately..won't tell magic over the phone..magic flies home..finds out he has hiv..was "devestated" ...he had already won 5 championships...& had just played on the olympic dream team ..think about how many more championships he might have won..but instead, perhaps more importantly, he became a spokesman for hiv... helped make the world more aware..

...its been like this for decades..the strange,unpleasant odor that is emitted from the ground near the 91/605 freeway interchange ..somebody once said it was a "gas leak" of some sort..why can't it be fixed ? it's not only unpleasant for locals, but visitors get turned off by it as well ..my parents have lived near here for years..7 I remember having friends from michigan visit & leave w/ a bad impression ..bellflower is where my grandfather kok started as a pastor & founded the Valley Christian schools ..the kok family has heritage here...& we have visitors come to los angeles periodically expecting an ocean view or beverly hills luxury...well they don't get either in bellflower, but at least they should be able to breath odorless air, right ? can't promise clean air, but at least without a bad smell ..can somebody fix it ?

...I asked guy named edwin if jose the manager was availabe (I talked w/ jose on the phone earlier) ..Edwin says he will see if jose is avail, but then went behind the counter & did nothing..the other guy w/o a nametag is eating doritos,, I ask the only responsible-looking fellow..a taller guy for some help & he does his best to help me, unlike the two others (& jose was on break in the back) ..autozone, more than some other autoparts stores, has a lot of latino workers, many w/ an attitude unfortunately..not usually white-friendly ..

..wow ! crystal cathedral, sheila schuller, board member walt, jim penner, et al, stated from the pulpit today that the cathedral is a church & a ministry & not something for sale, like a business ..& they announced their hope (our hope) of raising $50 mil in 120 days ..that's about $500,000 per day..is it possible? anything is POSSIBLE !...tHis is a big order, a big hope ...& people will have to dig deep during thse difficult times to make it happen ..I'm a BIG BELIEVER..& I simply pray "Thy Will be done..." If it is God's will, it will be done ...I don't mind other ministries making offers, but..not in a "power move" maner..as if to gobble up the cathedral or whiteash it of its history..there has to be some respect for its legacy..& factual accuracy, not misleading. for the press ... rhetoric....so whether they (we) raise $50 mil or whether they (we) merge with another mnistey..it must be a true merger not a sellout..not a "wham bam thank u man" moment..there mist be respect for the body of Christ..

7/30/11 SO I GOT A FLAT TIRE ON 405 FWY AFTER THE MAGIC JOHNSON INTERVIEW
...leaving L.A. south on 405 after the magic johnson interview at LMU ... heard what I thought was the car next to me making a lot of noise..lo & behold it was ME ..my car..rear passengger side tire blew out..tore it to shreds..managed to pull over near the avalon exit & fix it myself ! ...sometimes its hard w/ this car esp b/c I often have it full of stuff making it heavy or off-balance..& sometimes the side of the freeway is slanted ..this time everything went well , Thank U Lord !

7/27/11 re POLICE PARKING IN CHURCH PARKING LOT
...I think its an encroachment ...when police park in the chyrch parking lot ...it contradicts the essence of separation of church & state ..even if it is for benign purposes, not for vigilance, it sends a message that police can do whatever they want, wherever they want, whenever they want...& what are we the people going to do about it ?1 its somewhat arrogant...almost like sticking your middle finger up at "the people"..at the church, even if they don't think of it as such..even if the cops inside the cars are nice guys, good cops, it still sends a message ...namely that there's no place, not even God's place, that is exempt even for a moment from their vigilance...they r in charge...these cops with associates degrees will do whatever they want, wherever whenever..that's the message I get... its not enough that they can observe & inspect us at anytime on any public street, but they want to come on to the private church parking lot as well ? it would be one thing if they were believers & wanted to come in to the daily mass, but I don't think they have any spiritual intent for being on the church parking lot ..c'mon guys give "the people" a break ..its 6am ...some people say, "if u have nothing 2 hide, u have nothing 2 fear" ..but I don't buy that cliche ..its not that I'm doing anything "illegal"..its that they are violating "sphere sovereignty" ......in a place where u have an expectation of privacy & reverence ...the church is like a second home to many of the parishioners...& the presence of police, even good police, or police cars, adds a tension to the atmosphere b/c we have been so trained & conditioned by years of living that the police, even good ones, are observing our behavior, our license plate, our registration, our driving, ...even in stores we know they (ore security) are watching us to make sure we are not shopliifting ..when we go to any big public even they r there at the metal detectors, with the wands, watching waiting..at the court they r there, at almost every function they r present, for better or for worse, but church is usually able to self-govern itself without too many problems. Police presence is not usually, if ever, needed, & for them to sit in the parking lot seems presumptuous, to say the least. the church is the last bastion of freedom. If u take away the slight separation of church & state that is still barely respected, we become a china or a russia or any other country where the state controls the church, or the state is, essentially, the church, & the people become merely "pawns" in the scheme of totalitarianism & dictatorship-driven governments, propelled by power-hungry people...that's NOT the America I remember being taught about when I waa growing up .

7/26/11 MY lucky day: i get a PRETTY NURSE !
...its always a guessing game who I will get at this office ..they have a revolving door of interns..nurse & doctor interns ..I was telling her I have had this dry throat for about a month now..first 2 weeks it was stuffy and typical cold..then the stuffiness went away but I still was coughing & still am ..a dry raspy throat..used to voice-record for an hour...now I can only do 20 minutes before my throat becomes hoarse ...I also showed her my skin, particularly one finger that gets raw & dry...& I showed her my legs...she thought it was eczema (ie dry skin)..but its more than that...so she went & talked to the doc..but the doc didn't come and take a look-see for himself...she came back & said it was allergies & that I should try claritin ..I've used claritin before, but not for the skin..she seemed to think it would help skin & throat..never heard of claritin for the skin before ..anybody out there heard of that ?

...really, I'm compassionate..& would say welcome all ...but sometimes people take unfair advantage of the church..mentioned the homeless man in the pew yesterday who wouldn't stand or kneel ..not disabled..can't show a little respect?..I noticed this guy in the lot before mass..didn't seem to be going into the church..didn't see him inside..people parking here b/c there's no street parking..but as u can see its almost full...& all these people r not in the church...furthermore, this guy gave me a disdainful look as he got out of his car..so I put a note on his car asking him "what's up?" ...some people take advantage of the church, coming to expect it as a "welfare institution" with no need to giv back or even simply have. respect for others..had he not looked at me disdainfully I might have shrugged it off.....no attitude of gratitude..simply a self-righteous sense of entitlement

But it shall not be so among you. Rather, whoever wishes to be great among you shall be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave Just so, the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

JAMES: USE POWER to SERVE; st cat lab "...think that Jesus would go to Jerusalem to rule...mother believed it..Jesus..the two disciples..in fact he wants his disciples to be great at first..but should be first by serving, even if means sacrificing life...disciples will lose life for sake of others..that's why jesus gave command to disciples..re feast of st james.. apostles diffrnt .james.judas..we know how judas died..james also died ..he went to spain..to the poor people ..he was disappointed bc the pagans did not accept..he prayed to mother mary. She gave him a small stat of her & he build a church for her..mother of pillar ?..same time he preached gospel..died for sake of jc..find in today's gospel..wnt to be great mst serve ..he fulflled the desire of Jesus..in his life..why he was beheaded by the king..to satisfy the jewish people..he lived the poor life, simple life ..celebr his feast ..let us also blv we r disciples of jesus ..everything we got..have to live for Jesus..to serve others ...all .positions..have the powers..use as christians to serve the people., serve the lord..follow like james ..sermon of sermons..great power..using power to serve ..follow example of st james to serve
2 Cor 4:7-15 Brothers and sisters: We hold this treasure in earthen vessels, that the surpassing power may be of God and not from us.
