the notre dame football coach came to los angeles for the get motivatedseminar at staples center. he was one of many bih name speakers, incl joe montana, rudy guilani, bill cosby, stanley mcchrystal, laura bush, et. al ...lou spoke about attitude..mentioned notre dame footbal. throughout the speech, even did a magic trick at the end (tore up a newspaper & made it whole again, how'd he do that ?), ..he made afew jokes (one time he was in a restaurant & the waiter said "What's the difference between cheerios & notre dame ? lou said, IDK, WHAT? and the waiter replied, "cheerios deserve to be in a bowl, notre dame doesn't" ha ha..Lou was upset but his wife calmed him down (importance of attitude) and a few moments later calledthe waiter back over & said "What's the difference between Lou Holtz & a golf teacher?" Idk, what? "the golf teacher gives tips, Lou Holtz doesn't" ha ha, not to that waiter anyways, lou also mentioned his arkansas years and getting unfairly fired, he thought..and when it happened he wanted to blast the decision-maker in the media, but again his wife encouraged him not to do so,,..and so he refrained..and LO & BEHOLD, 2 years later when Notre Dame was looking for a coach they decided to call the Arkansas administrator who fired him...aand the admin said that Lou is a great guy and that he had been given bad advice and regretted firing him. Moral of the story; Don't badmouth your boss even if he unfairly fires you. ..it was fun to hear from Lou ..he has such a unique vocal style.., God bless him.
