in the courtroom, chapman outlined a better offer, and the university president said a few words, a little more cash, but also better terms for the lease (yet no buyback option ? only right of 1st refusal if chapman decides to sell?) ..anyways, the crystal cathedral doesn't have ALL their board members here so they can't make a decision...to the frustration of the judge who wants to make a decision today..why aren't all the board members present? one of the schullers is here..carol schuller milner ..I didn't recognize her, but somebodypointed her out, a guy next to me flew in from chicago for the. hearing..he said he wanted to speak for the congregants ..but they're not taking random ttestimony from people ..there is somebody who says he reps the congregation..or some of them....the guy said"In my business, if a corp goes under, you don't have a claim, you deliver pizzas"...so he thinks schuller-milners should relinquish all claims, hmm, I was thinking forpublic relations sake at least mmake a gestur of saying "we'll take less"....that seems to be what the judge was driving at with the schuller-milner attorney ..its a public relations problem..something has to "give"..but everybody has a claim..everybody except the congregants..who are out of a church if it doesn't work ...is it possible to make thisa win-win for everybody? chapman's new offer got a lot of applause, so much that the judge had to tell the court to keep it down..its been mostly pleasant interaction between parties, although the judge seemed to be pushing hardest on the attorney for schuller-milner ..the chicago guy kind of scoffed at the "ligh-hearted" atmosphere, but how else can it be here in southern Cal? you smile & act happy even when the ship is sinking. the wheels of justice turn slowly. by the way, the vietnamese fellow, truong?, who offered a billion for the cc sat next to me..he had on a red decorative vietnamese jacket & a big album filled with pictures of him in parades, with various dignitaries, etc. He said he's a billionaire but that vietnam controls his assets..is he a nut or what?
