la times reports that hoover was concerned that an LA TIMES reporter was going to slander or libel hoover as gay (or is it true) and therefore put the reporter & L.A. times On his list of anti-Americans " 'When you get rid of that son of a bitch with a vendetta against the FBI, we'll cooperate with you," FBI spokesman Thomas Bishop told a Times editor, the records show. By January 1971, Hoover was sufficiently concerned about Nelson's intentions that he brought the matter up with Atty. Gen. John Mitchell, his boss. "We have received several recent reports reflecting extensive efforts on his part to embarrass the FBI and me," Hoover wrote. http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-hoover-nelson-20111107,0,4415198.story?page=3. I saw the premiere of J Edgar on Friday, & eastwood, dicaprio, et al had a panel discussion following the screening... years ago, a top star like dicaprio would NEVER play a part in a film that diminishes his sexuality, yet dicaprio does so, even to the extent that he kisses his male "friend" (lover?) in the movie..I wanted to ask leonardo how he felt about playing this role, but they didn't do a Q&A with the audience ..I imagine it had to be a little difficult, assuming dicaprio is actually heterosexual...if not, then I suppose this would be easy for him..but also I wonder HOW MUCH PRESSURE the gay community inside hollywood puts on the stars to appease them? when I posted a comment critical of conan o'brien airing a gay wedding , I was blasted mostly with disparaging comments for stating my opinion (presumably by the gay community, or gay-friendly community) ...so I can imagine how much pressure they put on the stars who are already "inside" hollywood (there must be a lot of makeup artists, stage hands, extras, etc who are gay or gay-friendly...and I personally think of homosexuality as a sin like any other sin...and I am a sinner too, but not homosexual, ..I accept blame & repent & confess for other sins I commit, either sins of omission or comission,& try not to repeat them..my criticism of homosexuality is not from a holier-than-thou position...I am a sinner too, & I regularly confess, repent, & am forgiven (as long as I am not intentionally continuing in such sins)
