al vaughn (?) author of "sleeping with the enemy" says she did it for self-serving purposes ...,to free her nephew from prison & to get her perfume business back (as opposed to solely a desire to persecute jews, albeit he says she was definitely anti-semitic...)...somehow she cooked up a deal to get the perfume business she sold to a jewish family back in her hands..& they ended up as refugees in america (better than the concentration camp)
