...there seems to be a popular mythological image in the minds of many people maybe because of the famous american gothic painting by grant wood ...or the way some people misrepresent iowa as some sort of "dumb white farmer" state ..who are suspicious of anything that moves faster than a turtle ..in fact I've seen or heard or read of at least two people using this popular mythology iin a misleading way ...and it UPSETS ME because I myself was born in Iowa ...but didn't grow up there nor was I the son of farmers...but I did have relatives who were farmers (in Wisconsin) ..and so I am defensive of such an ignorant stereotype ..I heard the director of the Grammy Museum joke about nobody knowing anything about hip-hop music in "places like Iowa" (stereotype)...and also a guy name Foch Pensis who is now the superintendent of CVUSD (coachella valley unified school district) make a comment about the kids at CVUSD (which is mostly Latino) not being "like Iowa" (stereotype of Iowa being all white) ...its an unfair stereotype..and unfair to assume all whites vote all white...albeit how many blacks voted for obama just because he was black, and not on the issues ? so I came across the following showing the voting percentages in iowa and it proves the point ..
