3/24/11 I CONFESS I BRIEFLY LOOKED AT ADULT MATERIAL ONLINE TODAY

...even though I'm an adult its not something I think adults should be spending their time staring at or thinking about..I confess I have done so every now & then (briefly, not obsessively), & the reason I am opposed to it is because it makes sex & sexuality & the human body an object of voyeurism when really God wants us to be engaged in the REAL THING...I.e. real contact between real adult men & women ..in a committed relationship, not solo sex, not mind sex, but real physical interaction between an adult male & female... people think that Christians are against porn because they (we) are against sex, sexuality, & the human body in general, but that's not true. Christians can & should be sexual but in reality (in a committed relationship), not virtual reality, When too many people are in the business of selling images of their body & selling sex itself, and not willing to engage in honest committed adult relationships we find ourselves in a world of non-committal, self-centered, non-community...and people end up withdrawing even further..we need real community..people living in reality with courage & faith, not virtual reality..when I briefly succumb to glancing at adult material (committed heterosexual relationships), the best I can say about it is that it should be a reminder of what we need to be yearning for in reality, and not settle for it virtually.
