...that's the LAUSD headquarters on beaudry ...when I began teaching in 1998 for the LAUSD the headquarters was still in the humble Grand street location, the way I liked it ...that's why I wanted to teach for LAUSD ..I wanted to be a servant leader ..wasn't seeking glory, status, fame, honor, & definitely not wealth...but the move to 20 floor Beaudry location attracted "corporate personalities" with little, if any, actual classroom experience, & even less care or concern about the schools & the classrooms & the teachers. In fact, I would say the "skyrise effect" made them care even less about the educational mission of the LAUSD & more about corporate symbols of status: the higher the better, the more $ you make the more important you are, re an office with a window, kind of car you drive, how many baths & bedrooms in your house, etc. All of these things are corporate status symbols, but LAUSD is supposed to be a non-profit educational organization, not a get-rich-by-stepping-on-people-establishment. Yet, in my experience, sadly so, it feels as if that is what they have become. Spiritually speaking, this is sometimes referred to as being "in the flesh", I.e. more concerned with things "of the world"... Its a shame, a real shame, despite the new buildings, including a lot of new school buildings, this has not changed hearts for the better, & maybe for the worse... LAUSD is no longer what it used to be...back when it was humble & innocent..the good days are gone, & so am I . Goodbye LAUSD & good luck. Without Jesus guiding the way, you are a sinking ship.
